Full Frame · High Resolution · Wide Field

Sony IMX455 Color CMOS Full-Frame Sensor, 61 MP Resolution

SkyEye62AC Plus is equipped with Sony IMX455 back-illuminated full-frame sensor (35.9×23.9mm). At the same focal length, the field of view is approximately 1.6 times larger than that of APS-C format models, greatly improving shooting efficiency. Use it with a medium or short focus telescope to easily frame M31, the North American Nebula, the Veil Nebula and other wide-area targets, reducing the workload of mosaic stitching.

The high 61 million pixels retain sufficient details for post-production cropping and partial enlargement.

Powerful Cooling and Lower Dark Current

Dual-stage TEC+PID Upgraded Cooling Up to -40°C Delta

SkyEye62AC Plus adopts a newly upgraded TEC and active cooling system, combined with PID precise temperature control algorithm, which makes the temperature control more uniform. At the same time, the cooling temperature difference further breaks through to about 40°C, effectively suppressing thermal noise and dark current. When shooting all night long, the long exposure dark field is pure and transparent, and higher quality images can be obtained after calibration.

Expanded Front Window and Reduced Vignetting

The sensor window on full-frame SkyEye Plus models expands from 39×27mm to 43×31mm, increasing the area by 26%. The larger clear aperture reduces edge vignetting caused by the protective-window opening, particularly with large-image-circle correctors that have short back focus and with other fast optical systems.

Expanded SkyEye Plus protective-window aperture

Monochrome models use a double-sided AR-coated protective window. Color models include an IR-cut window to reduce infrared interference in color imaging.

Four-Level Anti-Dew Heating

SkyEye Plus four-level anti-dew window heater

The sealed, dry sensor chamber helps prevent condensation on the CMOS sensor and the inner surface of the optical window during cooling. An integrated window heater provides four adjustable power levels to keep the optical path clear in humid conditions and across large temperature changes.

Zero Amp-Glow for Cleaner Long Exposures

Zero Amp-Glow for Cleaner Long Exposures

SkyEye62AC Plus uses Sony's back-illuminated non-glow CMOS sensor, which effectively avoids the common glow problem of traditional front-illuminated sensors and maintains a uniform and clean background signal under high gain and long exposure conditions. Calibration is easier and post-processing is more efficient.

USB 3.0 & DDR3 512MB

High-Speed Buffer, Stable Transfer, No Dropped Frames

SkyEye Plus DDR3 512MB image buffer

SkyEye62AC Plus supports USB 3.0 transmission and has a built-in DDR3 512MB cache to ensure reliable data transmission. At the same time, the cache can also greatly avoid the glow phenomenon caused by slow transmission speed, ensuring smooth shooting.

High Dynamic Range, Full Well and Quantum Efficiency

  • High Dynamic Range: SkyEye62AC Plus is equipped with 16bit ADC, while retaining light and dark details, avoiding overexposure of bright parts or loss of details in dark parts, and making the levels more delicate.
  • High Full Well Capacity: In LCG mode, the SkyEye62AC Plus full well can reach 107ke-, effectively preventing overexposure when shooting high-light ratio targets and retaining details in the highlight area.
  • High Quantum Efficiency: The peak quantum efficiency of SkyEye62AC Plus is >80%, the spectral response is wider, the light sensitivity is more sensitive, and the ability to capture weak light signals is greatly improved. High quantum efficiency ensures clear images are captured even in low-light conditions, making it particularly suitable for photographing faint deep-sky objects.

The sensor G sensitivity of SkyEye62AC Plus is 484.18mV, 1/30s. Equipped with an infrared cut-off filter, its spectral response range is 380–690nm, maintaining excellent response capabilities in the visible light range.

Camera Performance Curves

SkyEye62AC Plus supports the selection of LCG low gain mode, HCG high gain mode and low noise mode, as low as 0.89e⁻ (HCG mode is turned on, and the maximum gain is set).

HCG mode: Setting high gain can effectively reduce readout noise and provide excellent high dynamic performance, suitable for shooting dim targets.

LCG mode: Setting low gain can expand the full well capacity, effectively prevent overexposure of the picture, retain more details, and is suitable for shooting bright targets.

Low noise mode: Reduce the frame rate to obtain lower readout noise while maintaining a high dynamic range, further restoring the true brightness and color changes of celestial objects.

Expanded Connectivity and Reinforced Power

The integrated 5-port USB hub (4×USB 2.0, 1×USB 3.0) allows direct connection of accessories such as filter wheels, guide cameras, and focusers, reducing cable clutter and simplifying setup.

SkyEye Plus rear ports and USB accessory hub

The optimized power system maintains stable camera operation during continuous cooling and high accessory loads throughout an imaging session.

Note: The SkyEye Plus camera body can operate from a 12V/3A supply. A DC 12V/5A supply is strongly recommended when using the USB hub. USB 3.0 is used only for high-speed data transfer and does not power the camera or connected accessories.

Built-in Sensor Tilt Adjustment and Convenient Calibration

The SkyEye Plus body includes three sets of precision adjustment screws, allowing the sensor plane to be aligned with the telescope focal plane without an additional accessory for more uniform stars across the field.

SkyEye Plus built-in sensor tilt adjustment
  • Push screw: turn clockwise to increase the gap between the sensor-tilt ring and the camera.
  • Pull screw: turn clockwise to reduce the gap between the sensor-tilt ring and the camera.

Note: Avoid large adjustments. Loosen the opposing screw before turning any adjustment screw. For example, loosen the matching push screw counterclockwise before tightening a pull screw clockwise; otherwise, the mechanism may be damaged.

The series also supports the SkyEye rear four-point sensor tilt ring. The replacement does not consume additional optical length and retains the standard 12.5mm/17.5mm back focus.

Shorter Back Focus and Flexible Adaptation

Every model uses an M54×0.75 female thread and includes a full-size M54 extension tube and adapter ring for a standard 55mm optical train. Removing the front adapters reduces the camera back focus to 12.5mm or 8.5mm for greater compatibility with optical systems and accessories.

SkyEye Plus back-focus configurations
  • 17.5mm back focus: M54×0.75 female thread plus six M2.5 accessory mounting holes.
  • 12.5mm back focus: M54×0.75 female thread plus six M2.5 accessory mounting holes.
  • 8.5mm camera-body back focus: sensor-tilt screw holes, without an M54 mounting thread.
