Capture planets, Moon, Sun, deep sky, meteors and Milky Way scenes with one versatile astronomy camera powered by the Sony IMX676 sensor.
The AE676C is designed for multiple astrophotography scenarios. It combines high infrared sensitivity, low read noise and wide dynamic range to support planetary imaging, deep-sky photography, autoguiding and all-sky monitoring.
AE676C combines a Sony IMX676 color CMOS sensor, 12.5MP square format, native 12-bit ADC, 16-bit HDR output and USB3.0 transfer in a compact multi-purpose camera body.
Its mount options support wide-angle lenses, telescopes, guide scopes and all-sky monitoring setups without changing the core camera platform.
The 1/1.6-inch square sensor simplifies composition, mosaic stitching and post-processing by reducing the need to align different aspect ratios.
Built on Sony STARVIS 2 technology, AE676C delivers strong sensitivity in visible and infrared light, with high QE at 825nm and beyond.
AE676C features a double-sided AR-coated optical window that improves transmission while protecting the sensor chamber during field use.
When paired with an LP825 filter, AE676C enables infrared Milky Way imaging workflows.
Capture 12-bit images natively, with software pixel binning from 1×1 to 8×8 for flexible output resolutions and hardware binning from 1×1 to 2×2.
Hardware ROI increases frame rates by reducing the readout area, reaching up to 993 FPS at reduced resolution in 8-bit mode for high-speed planetary, solar and lunar imaging.
| Resolution | 12-bit ADC | 8-bit ADC | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USB3.0 | USB2.0 | USB3.0 | USB2.0 | |
| 3536 × 3536 | 16 FPS | 1.5 FPS | 31 FPS | 3 FPS |
| 1760 × 1760 | 31 FPS | 3 FPS | 61 FPS | 6 FPS |
The camera body integrates single-stage TEC cooling, a precision heat dissipation structure and active air cooling to reduce thermal noise during long exposures and continuous shooting.
Fanless constant temperature control supports zero-vibration operation with a target temperature within 5°C below ambient and ±0.1°C stability.
With the magnetic cooling fan attached, AE676C can reduce sensor temperature by up to 20°C below ambient for longer deep-sky exposures.
| Performance metric | AE676C value |
|---|---|
| Read Noise | As low as 1.01 e⁻ for clean low-light backgrounds |
| Dynamic Range | 69.7 dB for preserving highlights and shadows |
| Full Well | 11.536 ke⁻ for stronger highlight retention in long exposures |
| Cooling Delta | Up to 20°C below ambient with the magnetic fan module attached |
| Temperature Stability | ±0.1°C in fanless constant-temperature operation |
| Maximum Frame Rate | Up to 993 FPS at reduced resolution in 8-bit mode |
| Gain Modes | HCG for faint details, LCG for bright targets, HDR for mixed dynamic range scenes |
Use the rear interface, dimension drawing and adapter options together to choose the proper connection path before installing AE676C in the optical train.
AE676C supports CS mount, C mount, M42M, M42F and 1.25-inch extension tube configurations, making it easier to connect wide-angle lenses, telescopes and guide scopes.
Connect via StellaVita App, ToupSky software, or use ASCOM, INDI and DirectShow SDK. Third-party software compatible with these SDKs can also integrate via drivers available on the ToupTek Astro official website.
